[this letter is typed on letterhead, with a handwritten signature] [letterhead: Booker T. Washington, Principal. Warren Logan, Treasurer. Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute, INCORPORATED] FOR THE TRAINING OF COLORED YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN]

Tuskegee, Ala., Feb. 13/1894.

Mrs. Sarah W. Whitney,

The Charlegate, Beacon St.,

Boston.

My dear Mrs. Whitney:-

I hope you will pardon my writing concerning your donation to Tuskegee a few days ago. At the time I wrote, I was not aware that you had written Mrs. Washington. I very much fear you think we are dunning you, and I assure you that we do not mean to do anything of the kind. We know that you are interested in our work, and that the money will come when it suits your convenience.

Trusting you will pardon the mistake of so many letters,

I am,

Yours very truly,

Brooker T. Washington,

Principal.
