Miss Anne Whitney
Lancaster Mass. November 4. 1911
You Dear! Did you think I could lay up against you the half jocose & I fear one entirely voracious note anent Mrs D? Am I so limited that I cannot see two sides of a question (or a person) - even as you?
Why cause for penitence? nor any reason to forget! Perhaps it's as well to remember! Anyway I think I know you
fairly well - however it may be about my "mother's friend" - and I think I am always yours with some understanding & a great deal of love
