As antibiotic resistance becomes increasingly prevalent, developing methods for prevention of and intervention in bacterial infection, specifically due to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), has become critical. This research focuses on the purification of an extractable inhibitory compound from bacterial culture via flash column chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) via bioassay-guided fractionation. NMR spectroscopy has also allowed for preliminary characterization of the inhibitor through analysis of 1H NMR spectra.
