May 7, 1914. Dear home-folks, I ought to be in bed but will write just a line. First about Mutter's coming. If it doesn't make any diff. to you, I guess I'd rather have you get here Wed. A.M. for then I don't have any classes until 10:50. Tues. A.M. I have classes from 9:00 until 12:30 and a call-out in the P.M. Needless to say, when Mutter arrives I intend to be Johnny-on-the-spot, but don't dare skip Latin; my 9:00 o'clock class Tues. [page 2] The enclosed clipping may be of interest to you. It was a surprize to me - I didn't even know I was up until Jane [illegible: Rane?] came over before choir & put out her hand & said, "Congratulations, Eleanor." I naturally asked what for[deletion: e], and was much embarrased [mis-spelling: embarrassed] to have to confess I hadn't been watching athletic [deletion: announcements] elections. Joy Sleeper, the new athletic association Pres., is also a choir girl. That makes three of next year's Pres. in choir - Stu. G, Senior class & athletic association. Blanche is at the infirmary with grippe. Poor girl! I'll be glad [page 3] when T.D. is over just for her sake. I was up this P.M. to rub her head, & we had a fine, long talk. I never knew before that her father is a Methodist minister & that she herself has been to China - went just before coming to college. It's late & I have to get up at 5:00 to work on source theme. I'll send the trunk soon. Can you send me $15. I need $10 for registration fee & guess I better have about $5.00 on hand. Also please send me an apron quick. That little one will do. Say, Pop! Have you any more of those advertizing pencils. I liked those a lot. Thanks for the post card. I am enclosing it now. Love to all, Eleanor. P.S. That last part sounds like a Want add column.
